Football is still months away.  Basketball is over.  Hockey is over.  The US Open will last till Sunday, Monday at the latest.  Baseball is boring.  UFC 100 is one night.  Bleaghkch.

Here’s what Jurassic Park (one of my all time favorites) would have been like if the dinosaurs said “hey.”

Holy $@#%!

Very Graphic.

A UFC Fight ends as a man shatters his leg in, what can only be assumed, every conceivable place.

Horrible.

Watch it quick though, one video is already down because of copyright claims.  Damn you, ZUFFA!!!

UPDATE:  MUCH BETTER VIDEO WITH COMMENTARY AS IT HAPPENED.   Joe Rogan yells to the ref to stop the fight.  This is wild and crazy.

Dana White no te gusta Kimbo, EliteXC, loose T-Shirts

From The Big Lead, here’s a little rant from Dana White.

-Side Story.  This guy came into the bank and started talking about watching Mixed Martial Arts and we said, “Yeah, the UFC is great, I don’t really get into the other ones.”  To which he replied, “Well, I like MMA better.  I like MMA better than UFC.”  Douche.

Gone from the Ranks of Great Bearded Men.

You mean Shenanigans?

Well, there were a lot of Shenanigans last night.  Starting with the finish to the Firecracker 500*.  First of all my man Tony Stewart didn’t have the energy to finish the race.  Then Kyle Busch won after everyone behind him all of a sudden forgot how to drive.  There are two people I like in NASCAR** and one person I can tolerate.  The one I can tolerate is Carl Edwards and he had a chance to win.  Anyway, I think that speaks to a larger problem with NASCAR; the fact that every driver sucks.  Especially ones named Busch.  His post-win news conference was gay too.  “If I’m winning I’m doing something right.  There are a lot of Dale Jr fans that aren’t happy, but there’s a lot of two Kyle Busch fans that are.”  Fixed that for him.  And those two fans should be destroyed in an unusual way that I can’t think of right now.  Anyway, the race ended under caution.  There’s no better way to end a race.  Except by racing to the end.

“I don’t know why I’m such a vag”

*I don’t care what new sponser they have, it’s the Firecracker 500 to me.

**Tony Stewart and Dale, Jr.

The other Shenanigans occurred a bit later in the night when Rampage Jackson lost a decision to Forrest Griffin and lost his belt.  I am definitely calling shenanigans on this one.   Aside from one leg kick that took Rampage down, Griffin really didn’t do anything.  Rampage’s punches weren’t exactly landing cleanly, but he was making a lot more contact.   I don’t know a lot about scoring fights, I’m not a doctor, but I had it scored 41-14* Rampage.  Anyway, how can you take the belt away from this guy?

C’MON!

Rampage was surprisingly humble after the loss and finished the interview with a shout out to a buddy to “chirp me on my phone.  I’m still gonna get drunk cause it’s my birthday.”  Awesome.

*It’s a Palindrome!

On Kimbo Slice and douchebags.

Friday, May 30th, 2008

This Saturday Night marks a big night for MMA (that is Mixed Martial Arts for you living in 2001 or for KG who calls it Twink Porn).  CBS will air an EliteXC Primetime event featuring everyone’s favorite former homeless man, Kimbo Slice.  Kimbo has a lot going for him:  cool name, an internet following, a cool look, a beard!, um…a cool name.  He has become a hit because of his style (backyard brawler) and his brute strength and other things I guess.  That’s all I really see.

Scary mother- “Shut yo mouth!”  Just talkin bout Kimbo.

My main man Dan “the main man” Wetzel does a hell of a job breaking down Saturday Night’s Primetime event and explains the significance it could have on the sport.  If you’re like me, you’ve taken a liking to this MMA fighting.   I like Kimbo as much as the next guy, but he’s a freak show at best.  His highlight reel consists of a lot of backyard fights.  Not many sanctioned fights, and even those are sideshows.

As much as I think that Dana White is a douche bag, the man knows what he’s doing.  MMA owes a lot to him and we as fans do too.  UFC will be a prime time event one day, but you gotta believe it isn’t going to be like this Saturday’s.   Anyway, read Wetzel, he says all this better than me.

Michael Bisping Vs. Rashad Evans

Michael “The Count” Bisping is coming off a controversial win against Matt Hamill were many, including myself, thought Hamill won by decision, but what the hell do I know I only write for one of the most widely read and respected sports blog in the galaxy. Rashad “Sugar” Evans is coming off the toughest fight of his career against Tito Ortiz, which ended in a draw. This fight has a lot on the line with The Count 15-0 and Sugar 15-0-1. Bisping is a very technical standup fighter, but until now has really never been tested. Evans is a former heavy weight with a wrestling background, but loves to throw hands with anyone. I personal don’t like Bisping because he talks mad shit and is from England. I have nothing against people from England, but when you talk shit you should never say wanker.

Rashad Evans- 2nd round: TKO

Thiago Silva Vs. Houston Alexander

Thiago Silva might be unbeaten at 11-0, but Houston Alexander is a fucking animal. The man is just a freak and once he gets on you he wont stop till your teeth are on the floor. I don’t have to write much on this one. Silva is just a rung on the ladder on the way to the top.

Houston Alexander- 1st round: Something nasty

Joe Doerksen Vs. Ed Herman : Ed Herman- 2nd round: TKO Ryo Chonan Vs. Karo Parisyan: Karo Parisyan- 1st round: submission Frank Edgar Vs. Spencer Fisher: Spencer Fisher- 3rd round: KO Jason Reinhardt Vs. Joe Lauzon: Joe Lauzon- 1st round: TKO Luke Caudillo Vs. Marcus Aurelio : Marcus Aurelio- 1st round: Submission

Akihiro Gono Vs. Tamdan McCrory: Tamdan McCrory: Unanimous decision
